Eugene B. "Gene" Franckowski, 87, Trail Creek, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2:08 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be Friday from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am till the time of service in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born March 14, 1931 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Bliss and Stella (Novak) Franckowski. On April 24, 1954 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Marie J. deWolfe who preceded him in death on June 4, 1997.

Surviving are two daughters, Debe Krassow of Trail Creek, Indiana and Dawn (Steve) Franckowski-Moss of Michigan City, Indiana; four sons, Doug (Gail) Franckowski of St. Charles, Missouri, Dennis (Cary) Franckowski of Greenville, South Carolina, David Franckowski of Trail Creek, Indiana and Darren (Margaret) Franckowski of Michigan City, Indiana; six grandchildren, Samantha, Cynthia, Sabrina, Ashley, Jenni and Sarah; ten great-grandchildren, Nate, Emily, Natalie, Taylor, Hunter, Taran, Eli, Zoe, Sierra and Pheonix; and his sister, Shirley of Angola, Indiana.

Gene retired from the Michigan City News-Dispatch as a display advertising salesperson and was a U.S. Navy Veteran or the Korean Conflict. He attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and Queen of all Saints Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing and being outdoors.
