Edward A. "Butch" Garbacik, Sr., 71, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at 9:13 am at Franciscan Health - St. Anthony’s, Michigan City, Indiana.

Visitation hours will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, September 21, 2018 in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana 46360. Private family burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana at a later date.

He was born April 13, 1947 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Leon John and Jessie (Okleja) Garbacik. On August 10, 1984 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Penny L. Sass who preceded September 6, 2007. Surviving are two sons, Gregg Garbacik and E.J. Garbacik both of Michigan City; Daughter Shelley (Terry) Bright of La Porte; Brother, Norman Garbacik of Michigan City, Indiana; four granddaughters, Gabrielle Garbacik, Sara (Tony) Vondrasek, Nicole Czizek and Carrie Moll; grandson, Michael Dietrich; 6 great-grandchildren, along with his former spouse, Jeane Church of New Buffalo, Michigan; He was preceded by daughter, Kelley Czizek and brother, Daniel L. Garbacik.

Butch had retired from Kabelin Ace Hardware as an electrical department sales clerk. He served in the United States Army and had formerly been a member of the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 along with being a member of the American Federation of Musicians. He was band leader of the Ed Alan Quartet, Butch's Night Out and also served as drummer for many other local groups.
