Dennis A. Kado, 98, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 6:47 am in Trail Creek Place, Michigan City, Indiana.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm Monday evening in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana and from 9:15 am till 10:00 am in the Queen of all Saints Catholic Church Legacy Center. A Wake service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel and full military services will be conducted Tuesday in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
He was born May 19, 1921 in Hebron, Indiana to the late John and Mary (Buckowski) Kado. On October 24, 1946 in Valparaiso, Indiana he married Helen Marcinkowski who preceded him on November 30, 2009. Surviving are Daughter, Patricia (Joseph Kellerman) Money of Michiana Shores, Indiana and caregiving friend Bert Clouse of La Porte, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Kado-Vann; four brothers, John, Jr, Edward, Louis and Joseph Kado along with two sisters, Gertrude Tickfer, Florence Kado;
Mr. Kado was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. He retired from US Steel after 31 years as a Skull Cracker operator. He served in the US Air Force during W.W.II and was a member American Legion Post 0295 of Union Mills, Indiana and enjoyed wood-working.
