Barbara Ann Nowatzke, 86, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at 1:09 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 29, 2019 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born July 19, 1932 in Georgetown, Kentucky to the late Bruce and Luella (Hinton) Covington. On June 27, 1953 in Michigan City, IN she married John E. Nowatzke who preceded her on April 8, 2016.

Surviving are three sons, William (Karin) Nowatzke of Michigan City, IN, Steven (Belinda) Nowatzke of Clinton, MT and Randy (Sue) Nilson of Arvada, CO; two grandchildren, Kristina (Jon) Kenning of Helena, MT and Jennifer Nowatzke of California; step-grandchild, Derick (Ann) Helton of Michigan City, IN; two step-great-grandchildren, Zach and Kristin Helton; Sister, Beverly of Terre Haute, IN; and two brothers, James Covington of Michigan City, IN and John (Jean) Covington of Indianapolis, IN.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lim.

Barbara retired as a secretary at the South Shore Railroad and was also had worked as a secretary for the Coolspring Township tax assessor. She enjoyed traveling and listening to Barbra Streisand music.
