Alfred Radke, 83, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 4:15 am in Hospice Franciscan Communities, Michigan City, Indiana.

A Memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 818 Franklin St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Mark Reshan officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors. Gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 am till the service Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.

He was born July 29, 1933 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin to the late William and Wanda (Schmidt) Radke. On July 29, 1959 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Carol Sommerfeld who survives Michigan City, Indiana; Also surviving are Son, Darren Radke of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Daughter, Amy Radke of Granger, Indiana; Five Brothers, Roland (Ruth) Radke, Reuben (Lorraine) Radke and Bruce (Anne) Radke all of Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, Donald (Jean) Radke of Coleman, Wisconsin and Roger Radke of Denver, Colorado; Four Sisters, Irene Baker and Patricia Magnin both of Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, Martha Schroeder and Helen Wiese both of Michigan City, Indiana; Many Nieces, Nephews and Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews; He was preceded in death by Four Brothers, Herbert, Arthur, Kenneth and Fred Radke; Sister, Florence Froehlke;

Al was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Michigan City, Indiana. He worked for F.W. Dwyer, South Shore Railroad and retired 1993 as Superintendent for Luria Brothers. Served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Member of the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the VFW Post 2536 and a former member of the Moose 980 Family Center. He enjoyed nature, gardening, hunting and was an avid fisherman known in the community as "Mr. Walleye". He golfed with the 76'ers, a running enthusiast completing in the Chicago Marathon and a Green Bay Packer fan. He was a handyman who enjoyed fixing things, enjoyed life with his family and friends and family outings. The Alfred Radke family would like to thank the Hospice Franciscan Communities special people, especially Mary, Dayna, Stephanie, Sarah, nurse Sarah, Connie, Sam, Melisa, Tiffany, Marie and the nurses on the 5th floor for taking such great care of Al this past year.
