Adele L. Semala, 84, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 9:55 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 18, 2019 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Selvaraj Selladurai officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born February 10, 1934 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Joseph and Mary (Wojas) Ratenski. On June 13, 1953 in Michigan City, IN she married Richard Semala who preceded her on April 15, 2011.

Surviving are a son, James (Gloria) Semala of Westville, IN; daughter, Janice (Jerry) Thode of Michigan City, IN; five grandchildren, Susan (Brian) Gracyzk of Lemont, IL, Laura (Eric) Wozniak of LaPorte, IN, Julia Thode of Michigan City, IN, Joe (Nichole) Semala of Valparaiso, IN and Jeffrey Thode of Michigan City, IN; and six great-grandchildren, Luke Gracyzk, Alison Gracyzk, William Wozniak, Benjamin Semala, Andrew Semala and Joshua Tolin.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Isabel Wiencek and Irene Abram; and her brother, John Kawula.

Adele retired after 26 years as a customer service representative at Sears. She was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church and a graduate of St. Mary's High School. Adele was a former member of the Women of the Moose #935.
