Edward D. Pokorny, 71, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
He was born October 7, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Sidney and Jeanne (Dreifuss) Pokorny.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Pokorny of Michigan City, IN; two step-daughters, Bridget (David) Cadwell of LaPorte, IN and Brenda Thiery of Mishawaka, IN; grandchild, Brandon (Jennifer) Bell; two great-grandchildren, Briseis and Alexandria Bell; sister, Juliet Rose Shavitz of Arlington Heights, IL; and his brother, Harvey (Darlene) Pokorny of Hoffman Estates, IL.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Jeanne Pokorny.
Edward retired as a counselor for the Indiana Department of Corrections. He was a former member of Sinai Temple, was an Eagle Scout and a longtime Boy Scout Leader. Edward enjoyed astronomy, sailing, surfing, scuba diving and swimming.
