Alberta Elizabeth Salak, 95, Michigan City, Indiana; Passed to her heavenly home Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 1:36 am in Rittenhouse Senior Living of Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana. She was the only child born to Albert and Georgia (Sullivan) Herrburger on September 8, 1922 in Springfield, Illinois. She met her World War II husband while they both worked at the Frigidaire Company in Chicago, Illinois. On November 25, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois they married and moved to Long Beach, Indiana in 1958. They had their home built and lived there until the passing of her husband on May 1, 2006. In this home they raised three rambunctious boys: Craig Robert Salak of Mattoon, Illinois, Jeffery Francis Salak, who is deceased and Robert Scott (Bonnie) Salak of LaPorte, Indiana. Five Grandchildren, Christopher Michael (Diana) Salak of Destin, Florida, Jennifer Joyce Salak of Crestview, Florida, Caitlin Anne Salak of Pensacola, Florida, Veronica Louise (Chris) Tsitrian of Laporte, Indiana and Jason Ryan Dierdorf of Michigan City, Indiana; Six Great-Grandchildren, Kayla, Lillian and Jacob Tsitrian, Bayne Connor Salak, Brooklyn Mykal Salak, who is deceased and Bryson Michael Salak;

She always had a positive outlook on life, a gentle word or a sweet smile to all who met her. A special thanks to all the staff at Rittenhouse Assisted Living, she called you her friends. Mom was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Rest in peace Mom, God has truly blessed you.

Private family services were conducted in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Arrangements were handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
