Eugene Senderak

Eugene J. Senderak, 87,  Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11:50 p.m. in his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery with full military services conducted by the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. The St. Joseph Young Men's Society will recite the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m., both Friday in the funeral chapel.

He was born June 26, 1924 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late John (passed away in 1932) and Mary (Krupa, passed away in 1978) Senderak.

Surviving are a brother-in-law, Donald Bushroe of Dayton, Ohio; 9 nieces, Kathleen Mulchay, SSCM, Bernadette (Ron) Newton, Janet Senderak, SSND, Mary Kay Senderak, Kathleen Senderak, Mary Jo Small, Teresa (Mark) Hubertz, Ann Levendoski and Jane (Larry) Wilson; 6 nephews, Eugene (Lorraine) Wizieck, Donald (Diane) Kabacinski, Patrick (Jackie) Mulchay, Mark (Yvonne) Jaske, David (Sherrie) Bushroe and Tom Bushroe; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 9 sisters, and 6 brothers, Stella Wizieck (passed away in 1993), Lillian Kabacinski (passed away in 1991), Stefanie Senderak (passed away in 1924), Sophia Gryga (passed away in 1934), Josephine Sadowski (passed away in 1962), Walter Senderak (passed away in 1915), Joseph Senderak (passed away in 1991), Genevieve Woods (passed away in 1983), Peter Senderak (passed away in 1983), Msgr. Casimer Senderak (passed away in 1996), Ted Senderak (passed away 1983), Stanley Senderak (passed away in 1982), Dorothy Jaske (passed away in 2008), Virginia Levendoski (passed away in 2000) and Joan Bushroe (passed away in 2005). He also was preceded in death by nephews, Wally Wizieck, Richard Wizieck and nieces, Monica Bethke and Gloria Levendoski.

He had worked at Dunham Bush in Michigan City until it closed and then retired in 1989 from the Michigan City Area School System. Eugene enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 17, 1943 and served in Germany during World War II.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, St. Joseph Young Men's Society and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451. In his younger days, Eugene was an avid bowler and played softball for many years. He also enjoyed traveling and was proud to say he visited all 50 United States.
