William J. Pishkur, 68,  Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:05 am in Franciscan St. Anthony Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 20, 2015 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington St., Michigan City with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Private family burial will take place. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm, Wednesday and from 8:30 am till 9:30 am in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. The American Legion Skwiat Post 451 & the VFW Post 2536 will conduct full military services Thursday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Bill was born December 17, 1946 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Frank and Helen (Kulka) Pishkur. In Michigan City, Indiana on August 15, 1981 he married Joan Duffy who survives Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are Daughter, Lisa (Brian) Czarniecki of Chesterton, Indiana; Son, Alex B. Pishkur of Michigan City, Indiana; Two Grandchildren, Reese Czarniecki and Robert "R.J." Czarniecki; Three Brothers, Daniel (Beth) Pishkur, Frank T. Pishkur, Anthony (Patti) Pishkur, and a Sister, Judith Pishkur all of Michigan City, Indiana; Brother-in-laws, John Duffy of Key Largo, Florida, Jim (Jan) Duffy of Naples, Florida and Jay (Kathy) Duffy of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Sister-in-law, Janice Duffy of Long Beach, Indiana.

Bill was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, St. Joseph Young Mens Society, Long Beach Country Club and The John Franklin Miller American Skwiat Post 451. He graduated from Michigan City Elston High School and Bethel College, South Bend, Indiana. Bill retired in 1989 after 20 years as a firefighter with the Michigan City Fire Dept. When he retired he held the rank of Deputy Chief. He also was the former co-owner of Beaker's Bar Michigan City. He still was employed by the State of Indiana as a procurement specialist. He was a US Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Viet Nam War. Bill played softball for many years in Michigan City participating in many games during the season and traveled and played with his local teams in many State, Regional and National tournaments. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the elite "Bushwood Country Club" group at Long Beach Country Club.  Bill enjoyed hunting and picking mushrooms.
