William R. Mason, 65, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at the University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 26, 2018 in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be Thursday from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am till 11:00 am in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born February 12, 1952 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Raymond and Mary (Ansorge) Mason. On March 10, 1973 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Mary J. Grady, who survives Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are two daughters, Jennifer (Joseph) Davee of Danville, Indiana and Sarah (Michael) VanDusseldorp of Carol Stream, Illinois. Five grandchildren, Anna, Ethan and Luke VanDusseldorp, Sydney and William Davee. Sister, Lois King of Tallula, Illinois and brother, John "Jack" (Carol Ann) Mason of Holland, Michigan; Sister-in-law, Carol Mason of LaPorte, Indiana; he was preceded in death by son, Christopher Mason, two brothers, James Mason and Mickey Mason along with two sisters, Patricia Everly and Mary McGinnis.

William enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening sharing his home grown vegetables with his family, friends and the community. He enjoyed reading and watching Scooby-Doo cartoons with his grandchildren. His favorite time of the year was Christmas time showing off his outside decorations and the 4th of July being able to set off fireworks. He worked for 10 years with US Steel as an electrician and retired in 2014 after 28 years working for Jaeger-Unitek formerly known as American Rubber, LaPorte, Indiana.
