William Robert Leffler, Sr., 79, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 at 2:05 am in Franciscan Community Services Hospice, Michigan City, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 2, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1237 E. Coolspring Ave., Michigan City, Indiana with Pastor David R. Solum officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm -8:00 pm, Thursday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana and Friday from 10:00 am till the time of service in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rolling Prairie VFW Post 9423 will conduct full military services Friday at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.

He was born August 12, 1937 in Collinsville, Illinois to the late Robert and Lillian (Massa) Leffler. In Collinsville, Illinois on September 25, 1956 he married Doris Y. Reynolds, who preceded him on February 25, 1999. On June 22, 2002 in LaPorte, Indiana he married Lois (Sydow) Dobkins Leffler who survives LaPorte, Indiana. Also surviving are Two Daughters, Lori (Timothy) Dobkins of Laporte, Indiana, Jacqueline (David) Mannia of Mill Creek, Indiana; Four Sons, William R. (Cheryl) Leffler Jr. of Laporte, Indiana, Pastor Ronald (Esther) Leffler of San Antonio, Texas, Jeffrey (Angela) Leffler and Martin Leffler both of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; Eleven Grandchildren, Kyle Leffler, Cassandra Leffler, Anthony Leffler, Allen Dobkins, Andrew Dobkins, William A. Leffler, Joshua Leffler, Rachuel Leffler, Danielle Leffler, Tanner Leffler and Lillian Leffler; 12 Great-Grandchildren; Three Brothers, George Leffler, Frank Leffler and Michael Leffler all of Collinsville, Illinois; He was preceded in death by Sister, Marsha Aubrecht;

Mr. Leffler was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the Coast Guard. He was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Michigan City for 46 years where he served the church in many capacities to include trustee, deacon and custodial duties. He retired after many years from Bethlehem Steel working in the Roller Dept.
