Richard J. Pinkerton , 87, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:10 am in Life Care Center of Michigan City.
Private family services will be conducted and burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
He was born October 13, 1929 in Gary, Indiana to the late Gale and Margueritte (Carey) Pinkerton.
Surviving are a daughter, Jill (Daniel ) Beach of Port Charlotte, FL; four grandchildren, Daniel Pinkerton, Nikole Pennington, Brittany Pinkerton and Nicole Plazony; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Rick Pinkerton; and two sisters, Diane Pedro and Suzanne Swanson.
Richard retired from Prudential Insurance as an insurance salesman. He served 10 years in the Army National Guard and 10 years in the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Moose Family Center 980, Central States Archaeological Society, and was a Sea Scout in his youth. He enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts.
