Phyllis A. Smith, 81, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 1:27 am in VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso, IN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm -8:00 pm, Friday, May 22, 2015 and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm, Friday, May 23, 2015 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born July 21, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Peter and Martha (Tanski) Bechinski. On September 13, 1955 in LaPorte, IN she married Duane Smith who preceded her on May 21, 2013.

Surviving are Two Daughters, Susan Smith of Michigan City, IN, Judy (Steve) Bartels of La Porte, IN; Two Sons, Brian (Joan) Smith of Warsaw, IN, Kenneth Smith of Michigan City, IN; Nine Grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Kelley Smith, Lauren (Gordon) Schmidt, Nicole Smith, Kyle (Erica) Smith, Andrew Bartels, Daniel Bethke, Matthew Bartels, Marissa Bethke; Three Great-Grandchildren, Cameron Hess, Joshua Vaughn, Analise Vaughn.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, husband; Daughter, Cheryl Bethke; Brother, James Bechinski.

She was a Beautician owning Phyllis Ann's Beauty Shop. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Phyllis enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
