Phillip "Bimbo" or "Bud" Staback, 84, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 8:10 pm in Aperion Care Arbors at Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana with Selvaraj Selladurai officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm, and Wednesday from 8:30 am till 9:30 am in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. The American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the VFW Post 2536 will conduct a Military memorial service at 6:00 pm and the Moose Lodge Family Center 980 will conduct a Memorial service at 6:15 pm both Tuesday evening in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. Full military services will be conducted Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born February 25, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Phillip M. and Clara (Manske) Staback. On June 7, 1958 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Nancy Scrivnor, who survives Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are Two daughters, Luann (Wade) Barnes and Lynnette (Leon) Kosakowski both of Michigan City, Indiana; Four sons, Phillip Staback, Jr. of Swanton, Ohio, Patrick (Kim) Staback of Haubstadt, Indiana, Peter (Sharon) Staback of Michigan City, Indiana and Parry (Kim) Staback of Hobart, Indiana; Eighteen Grandchildren, Cindi, Paulena, Jamie, Crystal, Ashley, Lisa, Wendy, Wade, Jr., Nicholas, Kristen, Matthew, Brandon, Amanda, Jessica, Joseph, Zachary, Kate, Lindsey. 20 Great-Grandchildren along with 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Two sisters, Mary Sobecki and Lucille Mazac both of Michigan City, Indiana.

Phillip retired in 1993 after 42 years as a coal handler at NIPSCO. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana. He was a Korean War veteran of the US Air Force and a member of the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the St. Joseph Young Men's Society. Phillip known to his friends as either Bimbo or Bud enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports. He enjoyed fishing for perch off the lighthouse pier, gardening, bowling, bartending at the Moose Lodge Family Center 980, which he was also a member of and most importantly an avid "Die-Hard" Cub fan.
