Octavia H. Gandy, 98, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at 10:30 am in Aperion Care Arbors at Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 pm in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Pastor Jeanette B. Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be Monday from 11:00 am until the service hour in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born August 1, 1916 in St. Francisville, Louisiana to the late Joshua and Elizabeth (Carr) Haney. In Chicago, Illinois she married Otis Gandy, who preceded her in death on January 20, 2006. Surviving are Two Daughters, Linda (Eugene) Simmons of Michigan City, Indiana and Patricia G. Echols of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; Five Grandchildren, Monica D. Taylor of Carmel, Indiana, Brian D. Taylor and Brittany J. Simmons both of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tarik O. Echols and Talia L. Echols both of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; Six Great-Grandchildren, Brian Jordan Taylor, Anais Laurent, Alexis Jade Ayson-Taylor, Brayden Taylor, Giani Taylor and Adan Razik; Two Sister-in-laws, Annie Butler Haney of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Arcola Haney of Slidell, Louisiana; Several Nieces & Nephews, Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews and many Cousins; She was preceded in death by Four Sisters, Mary Campbell, Viola Westbrook, Alma Toles, Amelia Dotson; Four Brothers, Jessie Haney, Eugene Haney, Samuel Haney, David Haney;

Mrs. Gandy graduated from Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was a former owner operator/bookkeeper of a service station center.
