Norma Mae Shaia, 89, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 at 7:15 am in Michigan City, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 29, 2016 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Dennis Blaney officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, Thursday and from 9:00 am until time service Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born March 16, 1927 in Cumberland County, Illinois to the late George and Mildred (Beals) Dallas. On August 28, 1948 in Michigan City, IN she married Zachary I. "Zeke" Shaia who preceded her on July 19, 2005.

Surviving are two daughters, Michelle (Kim) Glidden and Kathleen Johnston of Michigan City, IN; grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy Stacy) Neitzel Richardson of Michigan City, IN, Laura Shaia of Indianapolis, IN, Melissa (Chris) Shaia-Egle of Huntington Beach, CA, Hilary (Nick) Koonce of Michigan City, IN, Amanda (Chris) Buresh of Tinley Park, IL, Scott (Leeta) Neitzel of Michigan City, IN and Cody Johnston of Michigan City, IN; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Joann Palen of Chesterton, IN; and her son-in-law, Ben Neitzel of Michigan City, IN.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Neitzel; two sons, Doug Shaia and David Shaia; and her brother, Bobbie Dallas.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Anthony Ladies Maronite Society, F.O. P. Dunes Lodge #75 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose #935. Norma was very involved with the Jefferson School PTA and enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, cooking and being with her family. She worked as a clerk at Colonial Bakery, and also had worked as a manager along with her husband at the F.O.P. Dunes Lodge #75.
