Norbert K. Riechel, 89, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at 8:00 pm in Life Care Center of Michigan City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 22, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Thursday and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. A wake service will be conducted at 4:00 pm Thursday in the funeral chapel.

He was born February 4, 1928 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late William and Sophie (Walzak) Riechel. On June 5, 1987 in Michigan City, IN he married Barbara Cusick who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Norbert had worked at the Post Office before going to work at the South Shore Railroad where he retired as a purchasing agent. He was a life time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was a Sacristan and formerly a member of the Parish Council, choir, lector and money counter. He was also a member of NARVRE #171 (National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees Inc.)
