Marlene R. Beard, 73, LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:20 pm in Hospice Franciscan Communities, Michigan City, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Springville Community Church, 5244 N. State Road 39, LaPorte, IN with Pastor Luke Bedtelyon officiating. Burial will follow in Springville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, Monday and from 11:00 am until time service Tuesday at Springville Community Church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

She was born December 4, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Mervin and Dorothy (McAuley) Reisetter. On April 3, 2003 in Portage, IN she married Donald Beard who survives in LaPorte, IN.

Also surviving are a daughter, Dusty (Mark) Woolum of Portage, IN; two sons, Richard (Lee) Snell of Portage, IN and Erik (Mary) Snell of Gary, IN; two step-daughters, Deanna (Steve) Hockema of Avilla, IN and Molly (Kyle) Scherer of Albion, IN; three step-sons, David (Andrea) Beard of Avilla, IN, Justin Beard of Fort Wayne, IN and Benjamin (Courtney) Beard of Wolcottville, IN; 26 Grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Stines of Valparaiso, IN; brother, Dale (Renee) Reisetter of Chesterton, IN; and her fur baby, Miranda;

Marlene had worked as a cashier at Welch Truck Station. She was a member of Springville Community Church and the Ladies Aid of the church. Marlene enjoyed ceramics and canning.
