Mark Wiggins, 65, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 6:37 pm in Hospice Franciscan Communities, Michigan City, Indiana.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 13, 2017 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1010 Moore Road, Long Beach, Indiana with Rev. Keith McClellan officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation hours will be from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Sunday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana and Monday from 9:15 am until the time of service at Notre Dame Catholic Church. A Wake Service will be conducted Sunday at 5:00 pm in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. Full military services will be conducted Monday at Notre Dame Catholic Church.
He was born July 1, 1952 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Harold and Patricia (Perky) Wiggins. On July 26, 1975 in Independence, Missouri he married Carolyn (Puhr) Wiggins who survives Michigan City, Indiana.
Also surviving is his mother, Patricia Wiggins, LaPorte, Indiana; two daughters, Sara (Sean) Rathbun, Rochelle (Stephen) Sanaghan and son, Ben (Jamie) Wiggins all of Michigan City, Indiana; four grandchildren, Aiden and Maureen Rathbun and Mark and Jackson Wiggins; sister, Patrease Henson; brothers, Doug (Theresa) Wiggins, Stephen (Barbara) Wiggins and Jonathon Wiggins; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Nathaniel Wiggins.
Mark was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Long Beach, Indiana where he served as an usher and a member of the Notre Dame Mens Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He retired after 27 years from NIPSCO as a Settlement Analyst. After retirement he served as a consultant for other utility companies.
Mark coached basketball and soccer for 15 plus years at Notre Dame Catholic School. He was a proud grandfather, Pa, to his beloved grandchildren and loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved being a member of the Michigan City community and enjoyed his "Wiggy Waters", golf, going to the lake and snow skiing. Mark will be remembered for his infectious laugh and smile, sense of humor, his warmth and compassion, generous heart and always welcoming demeanor. He was a husband, father, a second father to many and most importantly a grandfather. He will be missed greatly.
