Kurt H. Furness, 42, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 6:35 pm in his home.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm, Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Private family services will be conducted and burial will take place in Furnessville Cemetery.
He was born April 20, 1974 in Michigan City, Indiana to Clayton and Judy (Rembarger) Furness.
Surviving are his father and step-mother, Clayton and Kathy Furness of Michigan City, IN; two sisters, Angela (Nathan) Furness of Valparaiso, IN and Jesi Furness of Michigan City, IN; two brothers, Christopher (Robyn) Furness of LaPorte, IN and Kenny (Christina) Furness of Chesterton, IN; step-sister, Tina (Chris) Collier of Michigan City, IN; step-brother, Chad (Aimee) Rusboldt of LaPorte, IN; nieces and nephews, Heather, Melissa, Maxymus, Clayton, David and Jeffrey; great-niece, Jocelyn; and loving aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Furness.
Kurt was a commercial fisherman. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need. Kurt cherished the friendships that he acquired through his time at the Dunes Fellowship House.
