James S. Henrich , 66, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 6:15 am in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Jeff Bladen officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Otis, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm, Tuesday and from 12:00 pm until time service Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born August 26, 1950 in Michigan City, IN to the late George Henry and Dorothy Genevieve (Wentland) Henrich. On November 29, 1969 in Madison, IN he married Karen Sue Warren who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Also surviving are two daughters, Julia (Mark Wesselhoff) Pawlicke of Michigan City, IN and Jessica (Michael ) Bronner of Rolling Prairie, IN; two sons, James (Kim) Henrich II of Dixon, TN and Joseph (Angela) Henrich of Michigan City, IN; two sisters, Joyce Dean of LaPorte, IN and Mary Henrich of Chesterton, IN; brother, Robert (Stacie ) Henrich of New Buffalo, MI; 17 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

James retired in 2011 after 40 years as a laboratory technician at Criterion Catalyst in Michigan City. He was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, where he was the first baby to be baptized in the church, Michigan City Riffle Club, the NRA and the Waverly Square Dance Club. He was a 1968 graduate of Elston High School where he was a national honors student. He attended Purdue North Central and Indiana State University. James was also very involved with for many years and had served as president of the Springville Township Baseball League. He enjoyed doing construction work with both his father and his father-in-law and going to casinos collecting over three hundred casino chips from each of his visits. He also enjoyed listening to country music, dancing, watching country western movies, and reading books.
