Eugene J. "Cookie" Kucharski, 85, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 12:26 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, February 2, 2018 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm  and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and V.F.W. Post 2536 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 pm, both Thursday in the funeral chapel.

He was born October 3, 1932 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Joseph and Lottie (Layman) Kucharski.

Surviving are his brother, Jerome Kucharski of Michigan City, IN; two nieces, Sharon Lynn Novak and Patti Pawlik; and two nephews, Edward "Chip" Kuc and Larry Semla.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Semla and Irene Novak; and brother, Edward Kuc (Kucharski).

Eugene retired as an upholsterer at Spang's Upholstery and formerly owned Cookie's Tavern. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451.
