October 22, 1922 - January 23, 2018

Emmitte M. Kirk, 95, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 5:55 pm in Porter Regional Hospital, Valparaiso, Indiana.

A family Memorial service will be conducted at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana are handling arrangements.

He was born October 22, 1922 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia to the late Lafe and Victoria (Corron) Kirk. On June 1, 1950 in Iowa he married Mary T.(Ansbaugh) Kirk who survives Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are Three daughters, Linda Rempala, Mary Katherine (Donald) Brooks both of Michigan City, Indiana, Sharon (Ted) Gowin of Marion, Indiana and Rick Rempala. Ten grandchildren, Cody (Josh) Elmore, Sarah (James) Culp, Cary (Erin) Kirk, Maggie (Brian) Gowan, Marisa Rempala, Teresa Brooks, Donald H. Brooks, II, Daniel Alexander Brooks, Bridgett Foust, Brooke (Brock) Muhlenkamp; Fifteen great-grandchildren, Sophia and Greyson Bertsch, Ruby and Andrew Elmore, Abigail and Jonah Culp, Liam ,Jude and Eli Gowan, Dakota, Emmett and Savannah Foust, Kelsey, Bailey and Riley Muhlenkamp; Brother, James Kirk of Conneaut, Ohio; Sister, Margaret Hofer of Boynton Beach, Florida; He was preceded in death by Son, Cary D. Kirk along with eight brothers and sisters, Dewey Kirk, Cleo Metheny, Lafayette Kirk, Wanda Kelly, Nina Young, Katherine Jones, Mary Harangozo and Cary Joe Kirk.

Emmitte was a member of the Teamsters Truck Drivers union for over 45 years. He was an avid reader of all interests. He enjoyed playing board games, card games especially checkers with his family.
