Bertrand "Bert" Hallin, III, 60, LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 7:35 am in his home.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. The family requests that you come dressed in your favorite sports attire.

He was born August 9, 1957 in Michigan City, Indiana to Bertrand and Betty Jo (Stanley) Hallin, Jr. On June 25, 1983 in Michigan City, IN, he married Bunny Strickland who preceded him in death December 6, 2017.

Surviving are three Daughters, Marastella (Chris) James of Michigan City, IN, Sonya (Larry) Bilek of Michigan City, IN and Bailey Hallin of Michigan City, IN; six grandchildren, Max, Ryne, Doug, AnnaJo, Kody and Lawrence; his mother Betty Jo (Robert) Bailey, of Michigan City, IN; and three sisters, Linda Peo of Michigan City, IN, Lori (Ken) Jones of Las Vegas, NV and Jan (Max) Glenn of Minnesota.

He was also preceded in death by father, Bertrand Hallin, Jr.

He retired as a pipe fitter at U.S. Steel. Bert was a renaissance man who enjoyed sports in all forms, bird watching, coaching and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
